I have to admit, this week, as I thought about sitting and writing this blog I’ve been trying to think of a name for it, or rather a theme.
It seems that just about every blog you come across has some sort of theme to the blog, some are about writing, some about marketing the books, others about stuff that’s seemingly totally unrelated to the craft of writing, or whatever else they’re trying to link in with it.
And I’ve come up with nothing.
Or at least that’s what it feels like.
So I’m just going to talk about what I do and where things are at with life in general.

See, it’s a change in my regular situation that’s made way for me to be able to write this blog in the first place, so I guess that’s the best place to start, what do you think?
In my ‘9 to 5’ Job I’m a Bus driver, and it’s a job I really enjoy, but one thing it isn’t is a ‘9 to 5’ job in the slightest.
Yep, I’m one of those guys you probably got frustrated with this week as the lumbering giant tortoise pulled out in front of you, the driver not even using those funny things on the side of the vehicle that you could see your own face in, and it was white as a sheet as the ‘aimer’ scared the crap out of you!
I got news for you, in most places the Bus has the right of way, not just by law, but by the fact the vehicle is about fifteen times the weight of your car!
Anyway, back to real life. I normally do a seventy hour week spaced over six days, but that doesn’t leave me all that much time for writing, or does it?
Actually, in the last four years, I’ve managed to pen three novels and a fourth is almost finished! As they say “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Here’s two of them, I’ll put the link in down below.

A couple of weeks ago I found out that a shift had come available that would still give me the hours I need, but I’d only have to be out of the house for five days! Naturally, I jumped at the chance, but the boss wasn’t giving it over so easily!
You’d think that if someone wanted to work a shift, and was keen on it they’d be glad of that wouldn’t you? The problem was I know all the routes and they really wanted someone who knew all the routes to be ‘available’ as a ‘standby’ to fill the gaps the other drivers often leave.
All I can say is a little ‘horse-trading’ went on and we came up with a compromise that was exactly what I wanted (I just didn’t let on that’s what I wanted, Ya gotta let the boss think they won!)
Anyway, here we are, late Saturday afternoon when I’d previously be working, sitting at home, having enjoyed a nice ‘cuppa’. My poor wife and daughter trying to get used to having ‘dad’ home (hey, I’ve been doing this for seven years straight, it’s going to take some adjusting!) and able to write something on this site for the first time in nearly a year, and the first time ever that I can plan to write consistently on the site.
For me, writing is the way I relax, I can unwind as I write, and at times I can go off into my own little world and enjoy the exploration in my mind.
I joke with my workmates that writing is great because when I’ve had a frustrating time with a passenger, I can “Go off and Kill someone without getting arrested!” They usually get the humour as that’s how we feel at times, writing is a great way of unwinding.
Okay, how do I do it?
That we might explore next week.
Let me know what you think.

I hope your boss doesn’t read this. He’ll know you actually won – and that may not be good! lol. Good stuff here, Lawrence!

He ‘won’ as well as they insisted that I still have to work Saturday Mornings, but that means I dropped from a six-day working week to a five and a half day one for the same pay!
